NYSSLS Chemistry Storyline Collaborative: Summer Planning Session

Are you looking to transition your chemistry instruction away from traditional topic-by-topic coverage and toward genuine student sensemaking? Join other dedicated educators in developing NYSSLS-aligned storyline curricula for New York State high school chemistry classrooms. This collaborative PLC uses the highly regarded Illinois NGSS Storyline curriculum as our foundational blueprint. Our goal is not to copy Illinois materials-but to apply the same design principles in ways that reflect NYSSLS, Regents expectations, and more engaging local contexts.

Participants will develop robust chemistry storyline components independently, sharing progress and insights with the group for feedback. We will shift our instructional focus from "covering content" to supporting sensemaking, ensuring that our students are well-prepared for Regents-style reasoning without reverting to memorization. Join us to transform your chemistry curriculum into a coherent sequence of lessons driven by phenomena and shaped by student thinking!
