Empowering Students through Contemporary Art: Building Confidence and Self-Expression

This professional learning course empowers K-12 art educators to design inclusive and inspiring art activities that foster student confidence and self-expression. Teachers will learn how to guide students in exploring their identities through projects like the "Reflective Practice Journal” and "Memory Abstractions,” inspired by Robert Mangold's work. The course also emphasizes the importance of cultural representation, with assignments such as the "My Favorite Recipe Illustrations, ” encouraging students to celebrate their unique backgrounds. Additionally, educators will explore how to transform routine tasks into creative challenges, such as the "Watercolor Challenge,” to inspire innovation and engagement in the classroom.
