TEACHER LEADERSHIP COACH FOR THE VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS

Denise Lutter, Ed.D. is the Teacher Leadership Coach for Visual and Performing Arts at the Greater Capital Region Teacher Center. Denise recently retired from the Bronxville School District, where she served many roles, including Teacher Center Director, High School Orchestra Director, AP Music Theory teacher, and Performing Arts Department Curriculum Leader. Denise holds a Doctorate in Music from Columbia University Teachers College, a Professional Diploma in Educational Administration from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, and is a National Board Certified Teacher. As an active NYSSMA member, she has edited four editions of the viola section of the NYSSMA Manual and is a solo, all-state and major organization adjudicator. Denise has served as one of the NYS Music Standards writers, a member of NYSED’s Arts Content Advisory Panel, a subject area specialist for the music teacher certification examination and on the Individual Arts Assessment Pathway committee. A recipient of two Fulbright-Hays Scholarships and a NEH grant, Denise has studied in India, Egypt, China, Tanzania, Germany, and the United Kingdom, and actively pursues opportunities to learn from and with the global community.
