Registering for a Course

Registration Policy

The Greater Capital Region Teacher Center strives to serve as many educators as possible. Course enrollment follows a first-come, first-served order for GCRTC member educators, with educators outside of our service area invited on a space-available basis.

Once a course welcome email is sent, typically one week before a course is set to begin, all enrollees, regardless of GCRTC membership, are guaranteed their seat. Should any enrollees drop during the first week of a course, registrants on the waiting list may be contacted with an opportunity to fill the open seats.

The Greater Capital Region Teacher Center is pleased to offer quality professional learning opportunities at no cost to educators. As space within each course is limited, we respectfully request that all participants remain actively engaged throughout the duration of the course. To ensure equitable access, participants who are inactive may be unenrolled in order to accommodate colleagues on the waitlist.

Please contact the GCRTC Executive Director with any questions you may have.

Your Guide to a Meaningful Learning Experience

Our courses are designed to engage you in meaningful learning experiences that support continuous professional growth. To ensure a positive and productive experience for all, we ask enrolled educators to embrace the following expectations:

  • Growth Mindset: Come ready to learn, apply new skills in your setting, and grow professionally.

  • Respectful Community: Treat your peers, instructors, coaches, and guests with courtesy and respect in all interactions. If you need to drop a course, please do so in advance, or notify your instructor as soon as possible if you must be absent or withdraw. This allows other educators to participate.

  • Active Engagement: Participate thoughtfully in all course activities, including discussions, assignments, and collaborative work. Your authentic engagement is key to your success and contributes to the success of your classmates.

  • Timely Communication: Check course communications regularly and respond promptly to messages from your instructor. If challenges arise, inform your instructor as soon as possible so you can work together on a solution.

  • Follow the Course Roadmap: Follow your course structure, including attending any required live sessions, meeting all established deadlines, and engaging with content as outlined by your facilitator.

Please note:Even asynchronous courses often include required timelines to support collaborative learning. Consistent and timely participation is vital.

  • Academic Integrity & AI Use: If your course instructor permits AI use, use it to enhance your thinking, not to replace your original work or authentic engagement. Misrepresenting your work, including improper AI use, may lead to removal from the course

  • Professional Learning Hours: Be mindful of and adhere to your district's policies regarding professional learning during contractual hours. If your contract includes additional compensation for work outside the school day, ensure your course work is completed during those non-contractual hours.

We’re glad you’re here and excited to have you as part of our professional learning community!
