The Mega Book of Fluency: Building Fluent, Confident Readers
This five-week asynchronous professional learning course is designed to help educators strengthen their understanding and instruction of reading fluency using The Mega Book of Fluency as the primary professional learning resource.
Participants will explore practical, research-informed approaches for developing students' accuracy, automaticity, rate, phrasing, and expression while building a classroom culture that supports confident, engaged readers. Through weekly readings, reflection activities, classroom application, and opportunities to connect new learning to current instructional practices, educators will examine how fluency develops and how intentional instruction can support students at different stages of reading development. Participants will have opportunities to consider their own students' needs, evaluate existing fluency practices, and apply strategies that can be incorporated into daily literacy instruction.
Because the course is asynchronous, participants can engage with the learning materials at their own pace each week while completing required activities within the five-week course sessions. Each module combines professional reading with practical application, encouraging educators to immediately connect their learning to classroom instruction.
Be sure to secure a copy of The Megabook of Fluency, 2nd Edition, by T. Ransinki and M. Cheeseman Smith before the start of the course.
