Motivation Matters: Listening to Our Students - Yearlong Action Research

Are you frustrated by declining attendance and low student engagement, even when you're doing everything you can to make learning meaningful and fun? You're not alone. What if the key to unlocking motivation isn't more guessing, but listening? Join this year-long professional learning opportunity focused on student motivation, engagement, and voice. Through this action research project, teachers will collect and analyze real anecdotal data directly from students to uncover what drives them, what helps them learn, what makes them want to participate, and what truly inspires them to show up.

This experience will give you the time and space to:
- Gather authentic student feedback about what motivates or demotivates them in school.
- Engage in meaningful data analysis and collaborative discussion with fellow educators who are facing the same challenges.
- Test small, student-informed shifts in your teaching practice and reflect on their impact.
- Contribute to a growing body of grassroots research that could influence school culture and engagement efforts on a larger scale.

This is a chance to center student voices, understand what matters most to them, and use that insight to inform your teaching in a way that feels relevant, responsive, and human. Let's stop guessing, and start asking! Who knows? Your findings could help reshape not only your classroom, but the future of how we connect with students everywhere.
