Lessons From the June High School Science Exams: Moving Towards Cluster Questions

We will take a deep dive into the June Biology and Earth and Space Science exams to reflect on our practice and determine how to best help our students moving forward. Using the NYSSLS Standards and Performance Level Descriptions (PLDs) we will analyze the exams and apply this knowledge to develop effective cluster-type questions.

As different schools handled the NYSSLS roll-out differently, we can learn from each other and collaborate to move forward. We will meet in person (with asynchronous work in between), to analyze our individual and collective results. We will then work together to become better at writing cluster-type questions. Tools (including AI) and strategies will be shared and there will be time to develop question sets you can use with your students.

For those who cannot make it to the in-person sessions, there will be an asynchronous option to participate and earn the CTLE credit.
