Designing AI-Resilient Science Lessons

Artificial intelligence is changing the classroom, but the answer isn't banning AI or trying to catch students using it. The answer is designing science learning experiences where student thinking, reasoning, and sensemaking remain essential. In this asynchronous course, science teachers will learn to create AI-resilient lessons that place student reasoning at the center of learning.

Through the lens of the New York State Science Learning Standards (NYSSLS), participants will explore how the Science and Engineering Practices can foster explanation-building, evidence-based argumentation, modeling, data analysis, and other forms of authentic scientific thinking. Teachers will develop practical strategies for designing phenomenon-driven lessons where AI supports learning while productive struggle, visible thinking, and meaningful discourse remain indispensable.
