The Daily Five Fostering Literacy Independence in the Elementary Grades Professional Book Study

*The Daily Five: Fostering Literacy Independence in the Elementary Grades -
Professional Book Study*

The Daily Five is a research based literacy plan, which helps K-6 teachers
engage students in reading and writing activities, developing students'
stamina and independence. It allows teachers to differentiate and focus
instruction while students participate in five daily activities: Read to
Someone, Read to Self, Listen to Reading, Work with Words, and Work on
Writing.Research shows that if these essential five activities are
structured into the daily classroom agenda, students will improve literacy
skills. In this book study, participants will engage in both the reading
of the book and the implementation of the essential five in their
classrooms.
