Data Collection and Analysis

Using evidence to make professional decisions is obviously very important. As teachers, we don't always have access to data about standardized or district wide testing data as soon as we need it. However, there are many kinds of data that we can and do use effectively to inform our decisions. GCRTC will continue to host opportunities for teachers to share effective strategies for using data to focus and refine instruction.

  • Some teachers have been developing expertise on the use of technology, especially apps, to gather immediate and formative data about their students' learning. Look for upcoming workshops and professional sharing opportunities in this area.
  • Use of short, scaffolded writing assignments to develop and assess students abilities to comprehend rigorous texts in the subject areas.
  • Strategies for engaging students in analysis, reflection, and goal setting from their individualized learning data.
